    WADE vs. TRADITIONAL CONNECTORS

    • The Wade connector has an encapsulated wire nut, others have a bag of wire nuts to lose.
    • The Wade connector has the capability of holding three 14-gauge wires, and the cap closes tightly, the other caps will not close.

    INTRODUCTING THE WC-16 AND THE WC-14 “TIGHT BITE” CONNECTOR

    PRE-ASSEMBLE

    The new pre-assemble “tight bite” connectors come to you ready to use, they are color-coded for quick, easy size selection. Makes quick, secure connections for positive continuity. The tight square wire spring threads directly onto conductors for fast connections with no slips, no messes. Tightens without ratcheting, yet removable for re-use.

    The tough, thermoplastic shell of the “tight bite” lock nut, combined with the “field tested” protective red gel protects against environmental extremes, resists chemical action from hydrocarbons, acids, water, salt spray, weather, dirt, steam and oxidation. The special red gel will not dry out and contains special adhesive-cohesive properties as well as special corrosion and rust inhibitors and resist heat up to 550° F.

    The Wade Connectors, the new “tight bite” connectors come with deep skirt, wide throat lock nuts, deeply embedded into the protective red get to provide superior dielectric flash over protection.

    High Temp Grease

    The red grease offers the ultimate in general purpose lubrication with the added property of extreme pressure lubricity. This red grease is compounded from a blend of the finest mineral and synthetic oils coupled with an inorganic gelling agent. Our grease offers additional protection to meet today’s high- performance requirements. It is safe to be used indoors and outdoors. Material safety data sheets available upon request.

    Dielectric Strength Tests & Insulation Resistance Tests

    Following are the results of the dielectric strength tests and insulation resistance tests for the samples of Red Grease. As you know there is no standard test for the dielectric strength of grease; therefore, we modified the ASTM D877-82 Standard, Dielectric Breakdown voltage of Insulating Liquids, by using a 1-inch diameter, flat surfaced brass electrodes without a test cup. Tests were conducted at 0.10, 0.25, 0.50, 1.00 inch gaps between the electrodes at 500 volts per second rate of rise. The “referee testing method” was employed with one breakdown test performed on each of five successive sample of grease.

    The sample was two inches in diameter and minimum thickness of one inch plus the gap distance. The sample was the placed on one electrode and the other electrode was pressed into the sample and stopped at the appropriated gap spacing.

    Before each breakdown test an insulation resistance test was conducted at 1,000 volts D.C. for a time duration of one minute.

    Grease and ambient temperatures during the tests were 74.66°F (23.7°C), and the relative humidity was 60%.

    Tabulated below are the breakdown voltages, in kilovolts, for each test and insulation resistance, in megohms, before each breakdown test for each gap spacing.

    The foregoing testes were made with a Hipotronics dielectric strength tester, model #OC60A, and a Multi-Volt insulation tester, model #MG-251.
    The dielectric strength of air for the same gap spacing as used above is considerably less than the dielectric strength of the grease as obtained in the foregoing tests. Therefore, it is reasonable to conclude that the dielectric strength of the grease would be greater were it possible to remove the random air bubbles from within grease.
